BACHELOR’S IN GERMANY

Germany has a great reputation when it comes to higher education. The extraordinary quality of teaching and research gives every student an opportunity to innovate. This is the reason why there have been a number of ground-breaking discoveries in Germany such as printing press, mp3, computers etc. Germany is pretty much famous among the foreign students because of good quality of education, low or no tuition fees, great career opportunity and most importantly social security. As far as the universities are concerned, there are two kinds of universities in Germany. The universities which are research-oriented are the first kind and they offer a variety of subjects to the students. These kinds of universities can award you degrees on Bachelors in Germany and doctorate degrees as well. Secondly, there are universities which offer a number of courses in applied sciences. They focus mainly on practical work and give students a practical knowledge of work that goes on in German companies.

All universities in Germany are autonomous. This means that every university has a different set of eligibility criteria for admitting the students.

It also depends upon the particular course that you have opted for. Therefore, you are required to check all the details about the program for which you want to apply on the University’s official website, whether you wish to pursue bachelors programs in Germany or other courses. If you want to study from German medium then universities would check for your German knowledge skills and for that you must pass an exam called TestDaF. In the meantime, if you fulfill the following criteria then you can apply for Bachelors in Germany.

  • You have successfully completed the first year of Bachelor program from a recognized university in India in that exact field.
  • You have cleared the Joint Entrance Exam of IIT successfully.
  • You have passed the qualification assessment examination in Germany which is called as Feststellungsprüfung.

In Germany, the government provides enormous amount of subsidy on education. This is why most of the higher education institutes charge very little or no fees. If you see from that angle, every student studying in Germany gets a scholarship. Depending on the university and services you enjoy, you might have to pay your semester contribution. And, there are some special courses as well for which you would have to pay higher tuition fees.

While pursuing bachelor in Germany or other courses, you can also work in order to support your education and later become a professional. All International students are permitted to work 120 full days or 240 half days in a year and thus you can earn some extra pocket money. After completing the course, you can stay in Germany and look for the job for 1.5 years. Once you find a regular job, your residence permit issued for studying purpose can be converted into residence permit for gainful employment.
