Study Nautical Engineering in Germany
Almost 70 percent of earth is covered by water. The seas, which are ruled by Poseidon, seemed to be untamable earlier. It seemed that there could not be a way to face the wrath of sea when it gets angry. But things have changed; sea is regarded as one of the most important route of transportation for goods and stuff. Nautical engineering is a branch of engineering which have discipline dealing with the design, construction and repair of marine vehicles. They involve the innovation, research, application and understanding of research design; development of marine vehicle and calculation of all stages of life of a marine vehicle. Designing a ship or marine vehicle requires loads of work. The vehicle need to be assessed on the basis of the Preliminary design of the vessel, its detailed design, construction, trials, operation and maintenance, launching and dry-docking are the main activities involved.
At times when ship gets old or have any damage they need to be worked on. Ship design and calculation need to be done for ship to be modified. The calculation is done on the basis of conversion, rebuilding, modernization, or repair. Then there is work in formulation of safety norms and rules, damage control rules and the approval and certification of ship designs to meet such statutory and non-statutory requirements are also included in naval architecture. Both Marine Engineering and Nautical Engineering are pertaining to the ship industry. If your interest is in chief engineer go for marine engineering but if you want to opt for Captain Post, go for nautical engineering. Both will bring equal level of job opportunity.
Nautical engineering’s main place of work is shipyards where they work on the development of various ships and their technical design areas as well as working as operational and manufacturing engineers. They can also work in cost calculation and sales department. There are employment opportunity in companies supplying fixtures and fittings for ships, in classification agencies, in marine/nautical engineering and hydroengineering testing institutes and in private or freelance engineering offices. They are widely responsible for the testing and monitoring task of procurement of ships, fixtures and fittings.
