Study Food Technology in Germany

Availability of high quality, safe food is the basic requirement for any society and also food has to meet the additional nutrition required for baby foods, infant foods, dietetic food and food made of pregnant ladies. The quality of food is reaching new dimensions and it is expected to enhance to a much bigger level in future. Thus food must be viewed holistically from biogenesis of the ingredients through nutritional physiology in order to design and develop the treatment procedures and food processing methods accordingly. Thus, food technology or food processing engineering combines a basic knowledge of natural sciences with food specific studies. The extension of the engineering, food chemistry and biological subjects complemented by seminars, elective and optional subjects like food process engineering, biotechnology, molecular biology, process automation, sensor engineering, hygiene technology, cleansing and disinfection, environmental engineering, dairy and milk technology, oil & fat technology, fermentation technology and packaging engineering, etc.

All the Food Technology courses in Germany also require 3 to 6 months of relevant subject related work experience, partly completed before the commencement of studies. Internships aboard are funded.
